Sure, they don't buzz your hands (and butt) numb after a few miles, but thanks to the basic design, it does cause the rear end to do odd things while rolling through a fast corner. That is where the Accu Trak comes in. The Accu Trak chassis stabilizer is designed to control movement of the drivetrain in the critical area where the rear mount and swingarm join in the frame common on 1994-and-later touring models. This movement, experienced during cornering, is commonly called rear steer or wobble and occurs when the drivetrain moves laterally in its rubber mounts. The Accu Trak utilizes an adjustable Panhard bar design, which controls this lateral movement and is the single most effective modification to improve the handling of these heavy bikes. That means that even during heavy lean in a corner, the Accu Trak won't scrape the pavement. It is this scraping that could cause the bike to unload the rear tire, possibly causing a dreaded high side. Designed for 1994-and-newer FLHT, FLHR and FLT models, the Accu Trak is available from F'NA Cycle & Performance of San Bernardino, California. We were on hand as the F'NA crew installed an Accu Trak onto a 2006 FLHT. It took them only about an hour to install the unit, and that is including the time it took to remove the right-side bag and muffler. This is an install that is a must for those with these model bikes. It will give the riders a much more secure feeling during a fast corner while still appreciating the ride offered by a rubber-mounted engine.
